Do You Know What Your Parent’s Facility Would Do?

Elderly Woman Dies After Bakersfield Nurse Denies CPR

It’s indeed a shocking story about how an aged woman died after she was denied CPR as it was misfit in policy structure of a US aged-care home. It has been said that the 86-year-old resident of Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield, California, had lost her conscious on Tuesday morning. But, shockingly one of the nurses approached 911 instead of tending to Lorraine Bayless through CPR.

Though the operator entreated her to perform CPR right away, she turned a deaf ear to the consistent requests on the name of abiding by the centre’s policy for staff. “As a human being . is there anybody there that is willing to help this lady and not let her die?” the dispatcher says in the call”, said the operator of the emergency services call. The dispatcher even asked the nurse to call any passerby to perform the emergency treatment before they reach at the spot, but to no avail.

With no one coming to her rescue, the lady’s chances for survival got slimmer. While Bayless was rushed to Mercy Southwest Hospital, she was declared dead after some time. Moreover, Ms Bayless’ daughter, who apparently is also a nurse, has stated her satisfaction over the care her mother had received.

While assuring internal inquiry ahead, Glenwood Gardens, in a statement, backed their CPR protocol

Do you know what your parents’ facility would do? Do you think this facility was right? Wrong?

I’d like to invite dialog on this!
