I Love You Dad

I hope you had a good Father’s Day dad.

Did you even know it was Father’s Day? Did you realize yesterday was your 81st birthday?

Are you in there? I know you are somewhere.

I missed you today more than you know–even though we spent the day together.

I want your life to be fulfilling, and I know you feel empty and confused.

I hope you feel loved.

You ARE loved.

I know you think mom is angry at you when you don’t understand or don’t listen.

She’s just scared. I will talk to her. I promise.
We all love you dad. Please know that.

Is this our last Father’s Day?

I hope today made you happy.

It made me really, really sad.

I love you dad.

One Response to “I Love You Dad”

  1. I’m so sorry Butch. There’s nothing I can say that will make this better. I have empathy for you and others in your situation. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to know and love someone who doesn’t appear to recognize me. Your mom’s response is a fairly common response……it is so scary when someone doesn’t remember things. I find myself getting upset with my mom sometimes and then I stop and think how hard it must be on her to know she’s forgetting more and more. You are a good son and there will be a reward for you. The Universe always does. And you are a great fellow-blogger! Thanks for the reblog today!
